The Full Story of

Ex-Libris

An exlibris (also spelled ex libris) is a decorative bookplate that is usually pasted inside the cover of a book. It typically bears the owner's name, sometimes with a motto or a personal design, and is meant to indicate ownership of the book.

Brief: Design an Ex-libris Inspired by your name.

Ideation

As my name is made up of two words Deep and Ika, and I deviate towards Ika more than the former. I tried exploring and experimenting with it.

Finally, I chose one of the ideations and decided to go ahead with it as my ex-libris.

After

I created the design using the last part of my first name, "ika." Its meaning of "one," "oneness," or "unity" properly captures my personality as someone who values integrity, unity, and togetherness. Very first three lines stand for the virtues of faith, integrity, and good will that I uphold. Do what you love, be loyal to yourself, and be empathic are the three life ideals that guide my decisions, represented by the lower three lines.
